SOAS (School For Oriental and Asian Studies) Conference

The two-day conference, entitled “Bon, Shangshung and Early Tibet” and convened by Dr Nathan Hill, opened with a presentation by Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung and Charles Ramble to a mixed audience of academics and religious practitioners, outlining the main components of the Bon Project, tracing them from their original conception to their conclusion, and introducing the next phase of the project. Speakers at the conference included some of the foremost figures in research on ancient Tibet, the Bon religion, as well as Tibetan material culture and archaeology. The event was brought to a conclusion with a half-hour recorded video address by H.E. Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche, entitled “Reflections on half a century of Bon studies”
